Jimmy Pilkerton Jr., one of the founding members of the Asphalt Angels, was chosen to present his car in the Car of the Month for July.  Jimmy currently has two cars we decided to feature.  The first a 1957 blue 210 Chevy Sedan and the second a 1956 black 210 hardtop Sports Coupe Chevy.

Jimmy acquired the 57 in an unusual way.  You see, the car had been given away by a local radio station to a military fellow.  The guy really didn't have an interest in the older car and ended up trading it to a car repair station for a repair bill he couldn't pay.  The car sat in the station for about 6 months before Jimmy picked it up for a mere $400.00- which was the cost of the repair bill.

The only thing Jimmy needed to do to get the car on the road was to put a steering wheel on it but while he was at it he changed out the motor and the transmission within the first 24 hours!  He had it on the road again a week later.

Jimmy and his wife Nancy used this car in their wedding in 1977 and brought their daughter, April, home from the hospital in it the next year.

The car has been in a "frame off" restoration phase for the last nine years but Jimmy has plans…….  He'd like to have the car completely redone for his 25th Anniversary (September 24th 2002) so that he can take his bride back to the reception hall in the same car where it all began.  AHHHHHHHH

The 1956 Chevy is in great shape and a beautiful car!  He purchased the 56' in 1995 from a good friend.  All that was needed at time of purchase was a basic tune up and brakes.  Jimmy is only the 3rd owner of the car, which is all stock and original.   Jimmy uses the car mostly for Cruise-Ins and shows.  He has won three trophies with this car including a Fall Ocean City Show.

When Jimmy is done with the cars he plans on leaving them to his children April and Jimmy III.
